Sanderson Associates Launch New website HighwayEngineer.co.uk

So what exactly does a Highway Engineer do?

Do I need one? … and this looks like an interesting field of work - so how do I become one?

These are all questions that we are regularly asked and in response we have sponsored a new website which gives an insight into our work within highways and transportation and seeks to explain in an easily understandable manner some of the technical aspects of our world.

HighwayEngineer.co.uk

The website shows the involvement of the Highway Engineer in the various progressions of a development proposal from concept to physically getting started on site. It highlights some of the traffic modelling processes that are used daily, the follow on highway related legal aspects of implementing a development proposal, off site highway works - and finally what do you do if at the end of the planning application procedure you are found with a refusal of consent?

Links are included for further reading where necessary - the site will be of general interest to many in the development industry and may also set you on the “first step on your road” to becoming one of us! – so why not pay us a visit today at http://www.highwayengineer.co.uk

Award Winning Sandersons Get Switched On

Servers

Sanderson Associates, the award-winning Yorkshire traffic and highways engineering consultants, have installed a brand new, state-of-the-art computer system to guard against breakdown, fraud and fire.

The company, from Grange Moor, near Huddersfield, has invested over £50,000 into the system to be ready to take full advantage of the opportunities presented as the country moves out of recession.

Alison France, managing director of Sanderson Associates, commented: “We decided it was time to replace the company’s existing servers and IT system.”

“Our new system comprises of three physical servers and a new data storage unit, two of the physical servers are located on site along with the data storage unit, the third physical server is located off site and is utilised as a full back up system”

“The two on-site servers are fully virtualised servers and can be split into many different virtualised servers. As the two hardware boxes will ‘speak’ to one another, they are able to take over if one of them has a problem, along with a full off-site third server that would take over automatically if both the main physical servers had issues,” she said.

She explained: “Thousands of emails are received by the company on a daily basis, so the recording of inbound and outbound information as well as work undertaken, is critical for us to continue moving forward positively”.

During the past 12 months Sanderson Associates have won the Business of the Month, run by West Yorkshire solicitors Eaton Smith and the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, and was short-listed in the Huddersfield Examiner’s annual business awards.
