Area Wide Accessibility Study
Either free standing or as part of a land use proposal Sanderson Associates can provide advice on Area Wide Accessibility studies.
Major redevelopments have the potential to significantly change traffic and journey patterns within a wide area. Where this is expected it may be necessary to undertake an Area Wide Accessibility Study of the ‘base line situation’ with predictions post development of the journey changes and travel opportunities likely to be brought about as a consequence of the development.
Using the base line situation, measures to encourage the use of sustainable travel can be incorporated in land use proposals or mitigation put forward, where likely unaddressed increases in traffic may bring about adverse environmental impacts.
In existing situations the study can provide guidance on the routing of vehicles and identify areas of potential impact in relation, for example, to conflicts with vulnerable road users or road capacity issues.
